I think the certification thing is wrong. Unless it is aimed to Ilient support team.
Instead of providing the users, which you brag so much being all over the globe, a training program ; I think more effort should be put on the help file included in the product. I believe it hasn't change since the death of blue SysAid.
Most of the implementation will tightly be aligned to local policy anyway...
OOoo... knowledge base on user portal is an alternative where you should put your bet on.
A webinar/webcast would be more alluring...

Dear Sysaiders,
SysAid certification program is much as the community a place to share best practices.
SysAid certification program is not focusing on the know how of installing SysAid but a place to communicate Global IT challenges & the way SysAid help you to face the challenges.
SysAid certification program is based on ideas & implementation of our customer all over the world that will be shared with the people who decided to attend our certification program.
Our certification program is not replacing the thing that as you said need done like update our help files & to update our knowledge base our certification program is talking about implementation not installation.
I will be happy to address any questions you may have on our certification.

Thank you for clearing things up Sarah...
Then the problem is in the term used; hence I have a suggestion rather than a question - use other word than "certification".
Certification means either :
You set certain standard of knowledge and certify those who meets the standard.
OR
You reward somebody/oganization for his/her/it contribution to SysAid in a clearly define aspect. Like oscar for actrees or grammy for musicians.
Both doesn't fit the definition you just proposed.
I mean if the spirit is sharing how come there's fee involved ?
The way I see it we share best practice here in the forums...
If you want a formal kinda sharing that could be some sort of marketing campaign (which is no sin, really, I understand) here's another couple suggestion :
You either conduct a seminar like event - this is excellent in terms of speed in addressing current issue or challenge
OR
You hold an EXPO kinda event where you showcase some of best sysaid implementation by customers.
No ?

Dear Obelix.
The certification program is online training with SysAid.
It allows SysAid users to learn how to use all of SysAid features to manager and provide IT services best way possible.
A certification means for us, that a user which passed this training (which is on-line to eliminate geographical concerns and allow all the SysAiders around the world to participate) and will be certified as a "SysAid expert".
You can think of it a bit like MCSE or MCSA, which you can either learn alone, or in a course with an instructor, both are possible, and this is our job to allow those who wish to learn using this method this option.
From your posts, I can see that you know how to tame SysAid for your own need, which is great, but not all system administrators can take the time to learn SysAid in-depth, and the certification is a platform where we can provide all the information on the ever changing IT environment and how you can use SysAid to suit your and your organization's needs

Dear, Haim...
Now THAT fit in my first definition of certification. Those"best way" is the standard that the participant will achieve at the end of the course hence earning the certification.
So we're back square one.
I tame sysaid with the help of sysaid support team (Remember the jedi list ? NOT coincidence), bro. So the kudos are to you and your colleagues. Am simply a lucky padawan... *slight bow smile*
Which is my entire argument actually. But you're right... each people might need different kind of help.
When SysAid as prevalent as Microsoft, a certification might help one to land on a better job...
Hmmm...
Has ilient impose this so called certification on it's new recruits ?
*fake innocent look*

Obelix, The support team, as you know, is always willing to help with anything you might need in SysAid. However, the support platform does not allow (in terms of platform and communication methods) us to wildly educate our users on how to use SysAid better, since sometimes, an IT administrator is just not aware that SysAid can assist him in a particular way that he never thought about before. We use our certification program to educate the users on ways they can utilize SysAid in their IT environment in the best way for them. This is something that everyone can learn to use, we do not teach secret tricks (so no "build your own light saber" classes ) just best practices in a frontal direct and easy to understand way. I can understand that this method of learning does not fit everyone, this is a solution we provide, which we Know that it is a good, viable solution for IT administrators who want to learn more on SysAid using this option.

I like the idea they are proposing. Not so much the certification, but the instruction. I know there are a lot of things I don't know bout SysAid and I would like to learn as much as I can. SysAid is a big part of my job and the more I know about it, the better I can perform my job. If SysAid does decide to pursue this, I would like to know.

Save your money for better things, training should be free as a support due to the lack of usable Help files provided.
