We are using the Barracuda WebFilter 400. Extremely reasonable priced device with all the features you will ever need. Easy in line implementation and administration is a snap.

Thanks for the information. I am not sure if I want to go with a physical appliance or a VM appliance.

Microsoft released the new generation after ISA - FORE FRONT.
I understand that Linux is free, there are some benefits with other products, ......
All I can say Microsoft isn't that bad in protecting her own products and ISA\ForFront can give you some benefits too.

We run Watchguard firewalls across all sites and use their built in web filters which is actually a cut down version of SurfControl. Whilst we don't get all the whistles and bells you would get with Surf Control, we do get pretty much everything we need with regards to the filtering and that's what counts to us.
On the free side of things, there are lots of linux options out there that will do pretty much whatever you want but for free. I'd either build a VM install or chuck it on an old PC personally.

It depends on the job cdkarp.... Software solution can't match a box with asic chips on it in terms of speed and load. On the other hand granularity in filter on a box is like an iq on a retard. It's too simple and unlikely to change unless you buy another model.
