We are have been running a number both server and clients in VM enviroment for several months now and all seems ok and working perfectly - with all of the SysAid features being available. It all integrated with the 'normal' assests etc without any issuses at all

Any of you guys have tried XENDESKTOP with XenServer yet ... i'm having issues with VMs that are using "one to many" configuration (1 VDISK in ReadOnly for 30 Desktop streamed by a provisionning server)
Sysaid assets list only see the last VM that we've deploy sysaid agent! it's makes RC impossible for on the other ...
we are running SysAid on VMWARE and the Database is located on a physical MSSQL Server. This is working really fine and smooth --> no troubles so far.
We are planning to migrate most of our environment into a virtualized infrastructure bound to a SAN Network which means that our SQL Server also needs to be migrated --> but that's another story.
But unfortunatelly no, I haven't tried XEN Server, yet.
We are not using any virtualized desktop environment nor terminal services but afaik Sysaid Client recognizes a client mainly by its MAC. Maybe a SysAid expert can bring some light into the issue how clients are identified?
It would be interesting how SysAid deals with a terminal server environment but I think you just have to rely on techniques like rdp or built in citrix technologies for mirroring users using a shared session.
Any statement from Ilient about terminal servers? This would be really interesting!
thanks for your response --> yeah I thought so. I think that this would be kind of an overkill to support terminal server sessions. But RDP as mentioned isn't very helpful because the currently calling user will be logged of or - in case of a terminal server - a new session will be opened. For supporting users logged onto an application terminal server I think you need to rely on the built in capabilities via terminalservices management (--> mirror session) regardless if you are using MS terminalserver or an extended terminal server using Citrix (mirror capabilities).
But as already mentioned above, I'm not using terminal services here in a productive environment.

I am thinking of either installing a MS SQL Express on the same VMWare as the application or moving towards My SQL on the same VMWare.
Has anybody tried using SysAid with MS SQL Express (DB size is maxed at 4G) or MySQL? How is the performance?
For those running SysAid over a few years any idea how big will the DB get over time? Presently we have been using it for a year now and DB size less than 500M.
No problem with MS SQL Express but remember express version dont have agent, you cannot run sheduler there and manintenance and backup job automaticaly.
