probably a printer driver issue, try renaming C:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86 and create an empty one
then doing a net start spooler
if it stays running delete any listed printers and try re-adding them.

Thanks for the tip...
but it didn't work. Everytime I started the print & fax thing the spooler is dead.
upon minute to minute event log comparison I found something called "HP standard port monitoring" was succesfully installed. Nobody installed anything printer related the whole month !
And can't found anything like that on service or program list....
weird.

No error messages related to the spool service in the event viewer? Are the error messages enabled for the print server?

BOHF....
There was an error message but it just announcement of the unexpected failing print spooler (event id .
How do you mean enabling error message ? Is there a debug mode on event viewer for print spooler ?
Techguy...
There's no HP printer related program on that server. There's only HP insight, HP integrated mgmt and HP array config.

Techguy...
I take your logic of copying and eliminating to the registry.
And I think I nailed it...
It's the printer bloody monitor (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors).
Soon as I wiped it out (after I backit up of course)... the add printer button came to life complete with the printers but they are still in offline mode.
All I have to do is export import the monitors till most of them are online, the rest I reinstal mimicing existing configuration.
So far the spooler has not been down yet.
By the way there's a tool called printer spooler fix which looks so promising but it's not free.
