I have a user running XP Pro SP3 with Office 2003 SP3 anti-virus is Symantec Endpoint 11.0.4,Core 2 Duo 2.2 Ghz wtith 2GB RAM.

Whenever she opens an attachment of any kind for the first time it will crash Outlook. For example she when she gets a new email with and .xls file it will crash Outlook. After restarting Outlook the email will open normal and any additional .xls files for the day will open just fine.

I reloaded the computer from a Ghost image that 12 other people are running without any problems and the error came back after a day. The only thing the user changed was the default font to Ariel.

Does those other 12 also have the combination of sp3 and symantec (version???) ?
When you say change the font... is it changing the font on outlook editor (which is word by default) or changing it system wide thru theme ?
The later is notoriously problematic depending the font you choose.

Symantec did have that issue once... but they claimed they fixed it.

If there's any message quote the exact word (minus unnecessary detail about your org of course) here.
Somebody might have something to say about it.

That is not a bug, it's a feature...

Never met antivirus worse than norton...
You might consider disabling the Symantec addon from the outlooks addons under options. See if the issue still hapennin with the symantec outlook addon off.

All the other computers are running the same image. She just changed the font on the Outlook editor. After digging deeper into the problem it only happens when the user uses arrow keys to go to next or previous message. I found the same post on the Symantec site that you gave the link to. I uninstalled endpoint and installed the old version of Symantec 10.2 and everything has worked so far.

Thanks for your help.

this is exactly the reason why we as an IT company have stopt supporting Symantec End point protection and start suporting AVG antivirus.
sinsce we have made this switch our custumors stopt complaining aubout problems on their computers and the computers and applications performd a lot better then when they where running symantec.

Edwin.
