Hi,

We are about to do a test run of the free version of sysaid in our organisation to see if it suits our needs and that our users take to it easily before we buy the full version.

While setting up the free version I have had to setup all users manually. I know that the full version comes with Active Directory integration allowing me to import all users automatically. The problem is that over the next few months a lot of service requests will be created, so when we switch to the full version and import all our users via AD none of the SR's that each user actioned will be there because they are essentially a different user to the one manually created to do the test.

My Question is, is it possible to migrate the SR's created by each user over to the corresponding user that will be imported via AD?

Thanks
Obelix

No.

That is not a bug, it's a feature...

We ran into this problem when we enabled A-D integration. We had tried to use the same user names as we use for the user A-D logins. When we switched on A-D it imported everyone with their domain name prefix. This broke the link between the users and their call history.

We then monkeyed with the A-D import filters, imported the users again, and got all of the users imported without the domain name. This matched the logins we had manually created and Hey Presto! the call history worked. This worked for us because all of our users are on the same domain.

In the few cases where we had a discrepancy between the A-D user name and the SysAid service request history, I was able to bulk update the user name in the service_req table.

Hello Alan H.

If the user name in those requests are exactly how they show in AD and the issue is only with the domain prefix, please go to preferences > end user portal, and change the field "asset user determined by" to "network user" then delete all your imported users and re-import them.

If you integrated SysAid with only one LDAP server this should allow the users to be imported without the domain prefix.
If you integrated SysAid with more then one domain, then the domain prefix is a must have, but you can update the request user field to be attached to the users correctly using a database query.

Best regards.

Hi,

So if we only have users in one domain (which we do) then all we need to do is import the users from AD and they will match the manually created users we have been using and therefore all SR's will automatically belong to the correct user with the only potential problem that could arise is that the sysaid AD importer might apply a domain prefix to the usernames breaking the link?

Is that correct or have i just imagined that scenario lol? If it is correct then it should be quite easy to switch from the free version to the full version without to much hassle

Thanks

wbhltd,

Yes, this scenario is possible, but only when the manually created users have the exact same username as your LDAP username.

Best regards.

Haim are you sure ?
My understanding is the issue is not only the account.

The guy's main objective is to also migrate the SR that are attached to the manual account...

Obelix,
The reason it's possible is that the service request still contain the username of the request user even if you delete the actual user from the system, so if you delete all the users, and importing users with the exact same user names, the service requests will be re-connected to the users.
