I'm on a domain using exchange 2003 and my computer which is running outlook 2007 all of a sudden started asking me for a password. I entered my password in all formats domain\username , username, username@domain and it still doesn't take my password. I can ping the mail server. I can do an nslookup on the mail server. I can ping myself from the mail server. I tried removing my account and adding it and now it says it can't resolve my name because it can't contact the mail server...yet i can remote to that machine. I've removed myself and readded myself to the domain...i've tried creating a new outlook profile. All to no avail. PLEASE HELP.
General:
- any noticeable entries in the eventlog?
- is there a "time" problem for example, is your time offset > 5 minutes from server to server, or server to clients?
- tried OWA? Working with SSO?
- Have you installed new software (like IE8?)
- Is any other user experiencing this problem?
Client side:
- tried to generate a new outlook profile (and yes, move the OST file to a new and safe location)?
- Activated a firewall program?
- Installed security patches, especially office security patches?
Server side:
- Which SP are you using with Exchange?
- Any Exchange updates?
Problem solved. We have a riverbed WAN optimizer that was recently configured to optimize MAPI traffic. Some reason or another after a reboot i'm all fixed.
