Hi all!

I have been a constant Firefox fan for years, and didn't even look at other browsers. That was until yesterday, when a strange feeling came over me, and I thought I would see what the fuss was all about with the others.

I went through IE8, Opera, Safari and wasn't too impressed by any of them. Then I moved on to my Chrome test, and golly gosh... I was impressed! It looked nice, it does useful things, and displays in much the same way as FF, and I am yet to find fault 24 hours (and much browsing time) later!

So this led me to wonder, who uses which browser, and why? Have people tried the other browsers that are available? My poll covers the top 6 as you will see. If anyone wants to make a suggestion for an extra browser to be added let me know!

Maybe, we can start a revolution, and spread the browser wealth all around!

Look forward to seeing your answers!

Mike

I've used FireFox for years, and am tied to IE 8 only because of MS applications (such as Dynamics CRM). I've never tried Chrome, because I'm paraniod- I'm not comfortable with the idea of a talented marketing company building my web browser. And no, I don't use Gmail either. But Google search... yes, every time I need something.

I prefer Firefox. Refresh rate, no errors on websites and it also loads web pages faster than most others. I have not tried Crome, but will give it a whirl.

That is the one noticeable difference I have noticed between the "unconventional" browsers such as chrome and opera. They seem load pages a lot quicker than both IE and FF, and having used FF for some work again over the weekend, it was only then that i realised how slow it actually can be loading the same pages as Chrome.

Thanks for your input SysAid#1

Personally I use Google Chrome.

I originally used IE6 but quickly switched to Firefox as my main browser when I found out how fast and secure it was. A few months ago Firefox became very unstable on my machine, it would freeze for about 2 minutes and then it would let me do something for 10 seconds and then freeze again. I disabled all my plugins, upgraded, uninstalled and reinstalled and it still did it. I also noticed it uses a tonne of memory, about 500mb after a few minutes.

After a week of frustration I decided to switch browser. I Didn't really give Chrome a chance at first as I tried all the popular browsers. IE8 was far to slow for my liking and i really didn't like Safari or Opera. So I gave Google Chrome a whirl and I was very impressed. It was very fast, stable and easy to use. It took a little getting used to as it did certain things differently and it still isn'y perfect but IMHO it is the best browser currently available.

However, where I work and where Sysaid is deployed we use IE7/8. This is because it has the best compatibility with our systems but luckily this slowly is changing. I think I will be confident to recommend a switch to something else pretty soon, most probably Google Chrome

From the looks of this thread it looks like getting official compatibility with Chrome should be one of the things at the top of the SysAid list!

:-p M

EDIT!

I have just re-read the post from Haim that I thought he said Chrome wasn't supported, however now it seems it doesn't read like that! It definitely says that Safari and Opera aren't supported, but Chrome isn't so clear. Can someone from SysAid confirm?

FIREFOX, FIREFOX FIREFOX.. that's what browsing is all about

BJINS

SysAid currently support IE and firefox FULLY
Chrome's support is on the way, there can still be issues here and there but we do record them and try to fix them any time an issue is raised.

Opera and Safari and also on their way, but they are a bit behind Chrome.
we hope that in the next few releases we will be able to provide the maximum experience each browser can deliver

Firefox is actually "Fx", not "FF" as many tend to use

Nit picking aside, prefer Fx as its always done what ive wanted with no hassles.
IE8 - Its MS - 'nuff said.
Opera and Safari - havent used in a long time, but neither really hit me as being any different from IE at the time
Chrome - I like the UI etc, but for some reason, on my work box it just runs like an absolute legless dog stuck under a truck wheel.
I'll have to fire it up on my home PC and see how it goes

*shakes head in disgust*
I can't believe my serious poll has been reduced to muttered arguments
*mutters inaudible offensive phrases towards Techguy and Haim... (Do you see what I did there people?) *

and

I am pleased to see how many people have heard good reviews of other browsers and are now looking to try and test other things!

I am interested by your comment on the speed of Chrome, I have never had a problem with the speed, in fact it is consistently quicker than Fx (is that correct? :-p ) as I have tried loading the same pages side by side. Seems strange to me. But I would definitely urge you to give it another go!

Happy browsing everyone!

We used to use Internet Explorer, but after seeing how much more quickly pages within SysAid load using Chrome, we have made a change to Chrome.

We will use IE for other things, but only Chrome for SysAid.

When did you last use Chrome? Was it just slow in SysAid or generally?

I find it strange people saying they found it slow... it is so much quicker than FF! (Fx sorry!)
