I think this poll indicates SysAid's days of being a multiplatform product is numbered.

Vista - you must be joking! what business benefit does it deliver when XP functions perfectly well?

We have not gone system wide. We have 2 regular users, and 2 IT personnel who have it. I am the IT person without it. The other 2 are continually asking if I am able to do things because their Vista updates have messed them up. One couldn't even use his mouse the other day. But, they refuse to go back, so I will remain the lone, reliable computer.

We are running 6 PCs in the office with Vista while 110 still run XP. We have had very little issue with Vista. The biggest issue to date has been printer compatibility, 1 printer requires a generic driver and one doesn't function.

We have found that the changes to the start menu tend to have the largest impact on the OS usability. It integrates the Windows desktop search into the start menu and in my opinion increases the speed at which programs, network shares or email messages can be found. Other factors which would interest me in when looking at Vista for the business are the improved scheduled tasks, task manager, event viewer and the broader range of group policy.

I don't really think Vista is the end all of the OS world, but since SP1 I think Vista is a worthwhile product. When XP was released, a lot of the same negative feedback was present. SP1 and SP2 made huge strides with the OS, and I think SP1 has made the same type of step for Vista. I've used Vista for over a year now without having to use XP for any compatibility, and would not go back to XP.

I would be interested in hearing specific issues that people have faced with Vista that were not an issue in XP.

our problems are particularly program related, which i have no problem using in xp, and the other 2 can't get to work in vista. granted, in time they will be worked out, but for now they're a big hindrance.

For the "worried" ones out there .....I would like to re-assure you that this is not the case
We will of course continue to support multiplatforms

The idea behind this Poll was to create some interaction and discussion ...... and I see it did.....

I have been using Vista for just under a year. Since SP 1 I am a lot happier.

The function, speed, graphics are wonderful. Turn off services that are not used, Something I always did in XP too, and the damned thing runs sweetly. As for the start menu, that can be changed to the old 2000 look. Turn off themes and save a bunch of RAM.

For Xp only applications I installed VM with two HDD so I can have three computers running on teh same box. Luckily I have the RAM to do it.

Get one Vista PC, customize it then test the crap out of it.

Too true - I don't understand why people have done this, maybe someone who has, can explain.

I have a colleague running the same laptop (Dell Lat D820) with Vista and he's had all sorts of issues. On the other hand, mine isn't quite as bad.

To cut a long story short, what's the point of changing unless it's going to get you massive benefit (and personally I don't see Vista does).

I banned it initially as remote admins were buying new PC's with it on. I wasn't impressed to say the least! lol

We're now getting to the point where our industry specific software is reporting as Vista "capable" or whatever the word is so we'll be starting our review process soon.

On that side of things, we're looking at getting a TechNet subscription for all the testing goodies. Anyone have anything bad to say about them?

Well we are a MS partner and we have subscription to the Microsoft Action Pack which was pretty useful until they dropped the XP CD's.

Only Vista CD's are now available and they won't even replace your old XP CD (SO DON'T LOSE IT).

As for your Vista migration, good luck with that and keep us updated (Sysaid problems only please)

As long as you have your licenses, even one XP CD will do (but if you only have one, start making copies )
