Hi all,

I have seen many threads and wikis on how to format text in emails using HTML and I have done this and it is working relatively fine, however when I try to format the font or the spacing, alignment, size etc of the text that is extracted from a call and placed in the email I have found that I am unable to format the text.

Eg.

$Notes - the data that is pulled from the call for notes is not formatted the way I would like the data displayed, infact all the data is just displayed as Times New Roman. This applies to any data pulled from a call to be placed in an email.

Does any one have a solution to this bearing in mind I am able to format the HTML code that I place into the email template ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Phantom - maybe you can use the font tag?

E.g.

Could you let me know if this works?

Hi thanks for the tip. I 'm sure I tried something similar to that before but it just would not work. Much obliged !

I am also wondering if you can help with an alignment issue. I have placed the data retrieved from a call in to a table but the data keeps being aligned to the top of a cell when I want it aligned to be in the middle of the cell. I have tried the solutions below but it will not work. The only bit that seems to work is the font being changed and coloured red. Any Ideas ?

<td valign="middle"><a href="$LinkToSR"><font face="arial" size="3" color="red">$ID</font></a></td>
<td valign=middle><a href="$LinkToSR"><font face="arial" size="3" color="red">$ID</font></a></td>

So below is an example of what appears regardless of which HTML tag I use above. The alignment tag does not seem to change the alignment of $ID. This also applies to all data retrieved from the call. However the alignment, which I have not included above, does work for the all the cells in the first column except for the very first row for some other reason.

Valign is the correct tag to change the vertical alignment within a cell.

You have not put the 'middle' in the second row in speech marks. Does this make any difference?

I have tried both with and without speech marks and still the outcome is the same. The second piece of code is just to illustrate that I have tried both and that nither seem to work.

Most frustrated I am !!!

This does seem quite strange. how about if you set the height of the cell??

Hmmm I could try that but it would mean changing the layout of the table.

Thinking about it that shouldnt really make any difference.

How are you viewing the email? Is it via some email software (outlook)? or via a web page (hotmail.com)?

Are you able to attach the complete email file for us to have a look?

So here is a copy of the emails that get sent out to users. It is still being worked on and so is not perfect. But as you can see the alignment of data in the second column is off and not aligned how the data in the first column is.

It seems that the reason why the text is being displayed at the top of the cell in the right hand column is because of this code:

This is creating a line break with the <BR> tag. You need to remove this and hopefully your text will be displayed in the middle.

Hi Super SysAider,

Where is that text located ? Could you tell me the folder path and filename please ? Also if I remove that text does it impact any other functions within sysaid ?

Sorry I'm not sure where this code is taken from. Are you using the 'Customized Notifications' page to edit your email notifications?

I have checked our emails and this code is not added on our system.

If you view the source code of the HTML file you sent you will see the <BR> code in there.
