When I use the expression builder to define sophisticated escalation rules I can not set up the required expressions. For instance if I add lines and fill them out they disappear again. Or I try to link several expression with "OR" but I can not add enough lines. Is it possible to manually type the expression without sing the builder? This builder is driving me crazy.

Hi Thorsten,
Can you please open a service request at helpdesk@ilient.com and include screenshots of the expression builder configurations you are using, So we can further investigate the issue.

Hello everyone.
This is a known issue in the current expression builder which will be fixed in a future version of SysAid.
Meanwhile, you can use the below workaround:
In the expression builder, instead of using the "add new line" button, simply use the "statement" drop down to add additional lines (by choosing "add" or "or" statement).
This will allow you to add additional expressions to the filters.
As soon as a fix will be released, you will be notified.
Best regards.
Haim

techguy,
Our R & D are currently working on a completely new expression builder that will include many new features and fix this and other issues the current one has.
It will probably be released in the version after version 6, but its not confirmed yet.

That's good news that a new version is on the way, but bad news that we have to suffer the current version for many more months if is not coming in v6,
could the existing one not have a couple of the minor bugs fixed up a little bit to tide us over? it really is un-useable at times as it currently stands.

techguy,
the current expression builder is completely usable, and the known issues are relatively minor and this is why we prefer on focusing (since the amount of content in each version is limited based on the development time and resources we have) on issues that have the greater effect on the user's day to day experience.
However, it does not mean we ignore the current challenges we have with the expression builder, and this is why we are working on a new and improved one.

I agree the current expression builder is not what it should be. It is slightly frustrating trying to get the correct result. However I believe the development team is doing everything they can to fit it into the next release together with all the other goodies they are creating, not forgetting including all the new features we asked for.
Patience will pay off. At least the expression builder does not influence the performance of SysAid nor that of your team.
Have Fun All!!!!
