Hi TimR!
Glad somebody else has the same problem as I did. I solved it - try reading this thread - I've written a little script.
This script does some screenscrapping and gets the data into the SysAid database.
You maybe must adjust links, or database details. If you have some problems, just get back to me. Maybe we can fix this.
Best regards,
EbroIN

Hi Arnoud123,
I've never tried to "monitor" a network device with SysAid.
In order to get MRTG Graphs and thresholds I'd rather recommend CACTI or NAGIOS than SysAid (sorry folks!).
I've never made to convince SysAid to get a correct inventory of our Dell Switches nor setting up monitoring.
Cacti also monitors my servers ambient temparature sensore (which saves money for a climatic surveylance hardware) and everything via SNMP.
So I will stick with Cacti until SysAid improves on that point.
best regards,

Hi TimR,
as far as I know, the SysAid Agent doesn't pull warranty end date and purchase date out of assets (how could it). I've written a script for DELL hardware (can be found inside this forum) but I assume you might need some "additional work" to get this going.
You can import everything from CSV and the SAFEST way is to completely EXPORT your current asset database into a csv file (Asset Management --> Asset List --> Show All --> Export to CSV be sure to have Asset ID along with warranty end date and purchase date selected to display) and merge everything from your other tool into this file. Then reimport this CSV file - this might fix your problem.
I've tried that once and messed up my complete asset database. I was very VERY glad that I had a working backup.
Good luck

Hi there,
recently I coded a little script that automatically retrieves the purchase date and warranty end date from the DELL homepage for DELL assets. Unfortunatelly I haven't found a built in method in SysAid so I did a little vbscript to do that for me.
Any comments are very welcome, any improvements as well :p
This is kind of "quick" and - due to the nature of the script - very very dirty.
This script is built for Dell assets in the EMEA region (will scrap the EMEA site for warranty dates) and might change over time if Dell changes anything on their layout. It is important that the database for SysAid is located on a German MS SQL Server.
It is kind of helpfull to have little knowledge about vbscript before using this.
HAVE A (WORKING) BACKUP BEFORE USE! USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! UNDERSTAND THE CODE IN THE SCRIPT!
I wonder if DELL (or HP, IBM, Lenovo, Acer or whatever) has no API present to get those dates out of their databases. This is kind of dirty and I am looking in the Dell homepage for a table (inside the returned HTML code) and parse only the text contents. The script will look for table cells and add "," between the values. After that the script splits the string into an array and then locates the purchase and the warranty end date. After checking inside the SysAid database, the script UPDATES its value inside the table. For "non German" installations the parsing of the Date into an international format (like '2011-07-25') is necessary - feel free to modify the script to your needs.
I've done this on my database and it worked well for my 200+ Dell computers
Please leave feedback if you can use this, and if you've modified things, please upload your modifications. I think we can all participate from your ideas.

Hi aspenbrands...
You can have 3 users that can access the SysAid "Backend" which allows access to the HelpDesk or Manager Portal or whatever you have allowed them ( Preferences -> User Management -> Admin Manager). Here you can define permissions on a per user basis. As far as I know "normal" users cannot login into the backend and therefore cannot proceed open service requests.
The only option is if you allow users to close their own service requests via the portal.
That's all I know about.
3 licenses means 3 "named user" licenses not a roaming license.

Hi all,
I wonder if anybody is able to see the IP Address in the online users tab? I included this but it doesn't show the most current address. I'd love to see this enabled
Please see screenshot...

Hi there,
just installed AppWorld and this App. Looks almost the same like the android app. Problem here is, that all settings (like filters) are gone if I close the app and fire it up again. Also I'd really love to see that a "message" pops up like in the web interface of Sysaid when a new message arrives.
The controls aren't that intuitive as the webinterface is. Handling seems a bit bulky.
but I really love to see a "mobile" app

Hi pkitchen,
I ran into the same troubles when we changed the sysaid server. Unfortunatelly we were forced to change the servername as well.
My solution was, that I just reinstalled the SysAid Agent on all hosts (using a group policy).
Pay attention that you don't set the "Generate Random Asset ID" (RandomMachineID) option during installation. We experienced that the clients sign in to the new server without generating a new asset.
Another option might be to "adjust" the following Keys on the client:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Ilient\Agent\SubmitURL
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Ilient\Agent\ServerURL
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Ilient\Agent\MsgURL
with a script or so... Group Policies are really useful here.
For database migration - we are using a MSSQL server as database, so no migration was necessary. Just attaching the Installation to the database server did the trick.

Hello,
I have a non "Google Android Market" compliant tablet device (Android 1.5) without UMTS interface. Therefore I cannot download the SysAid APP from the Android Market directly.
The App is running fine, but right now I need to get the app from a mobile device and transfer this app to the Tablet Device. This is quite cucumbersome.
I know there are a lot independent tablet manufacturers outside that aren't "allowed" to access the Android market due to some restrictions.
So please provide the APK file as direct download from your site as well - this would solve these issues.

Hi Mucho,
too fast - after a reboot it works fine. See post above.
But thanks for the download...

EbroIN
(For all those curious SysAiders out there - Archos 7 HomeTablet with Android 1.5 (I guess) connecting to SysAid 7.5.03)

Hi Mucho,
thanks a lot, the download worked and I got the App installed. But now I cannot logon my server. I'm a bit puzzled but what details for SERVER do I need to enter? I entered the normal URL all our Agents are using (like http://<servername>:8080) but that didn't work.
EDIT:
ok, I just rebooted the device, now it is working. Fine little app, less "flashy" than the website. This can really speed up my asset management...
Thanks for your support.
I only wish, that Ilient would provide the APK directly for all those "non Google compliant" devices.
regards,
EbroIN

Hi,
I have an android (1.5) based tablet device here that hasn't any access to the Google Appstore. Is there any way that somebody points out a download link for the APK File, because I think I can never access the store with this device. I use it mainly for SysAid (attached barcodereader to the tablet and now running around with these two devices checking my network assets.
Hope someone can provide that app...
