As always, our experts are devoted to developing the best, most easy to use, and most efficient IT management tool for the benefit of your organization.
This last version includes improvements constructed especially to increase the productivity of your work, solve the difficulties and the particular requests we have received from our clients.
We continue constantly to improve SysAid according to your needs, so please feel free to contact us for any further requests and questions.
The Manager Dashboard-
A new Module in SysAid version 4.0
We are excited to present the new SysAid module, The Manager Dashboard. This new module enables you to keep being regularly informed of the activity of your IT team, save time, and have a very clear overall picture of your IT department. Thus, the Manager Dashboard will allow you to quickly and easily identify and solve your shortages.
SysAid now includes a new kind of user- the SysAid manager. SysAid managers log into a new interface, designed especially for managers. Here you can immediately see the main four dashboard charts, which give an instant picture of the current state of affairs in your IT department. Each manager can choose to see the most relevant charts to him/her. Moreover, the charts are dynamic, and you can easily choose to change their structure and modify parameters.
We have also added new reports and new tools to assist you with running them. The automatic scheduling of reports enables you to receive, for instance, at the end of each week, a report that summarizes the events of that passing week. You can also save time by keeping the configuration for running reports, instead of choosing the parameters over and over again each time you run a report. You can also easily search for any report in the Manager Dashboard.
Finally, the Manager Portal allows you to edit the existing reports and to customize them for the particular needs of your company. Managers with programming skills can even create entirely new reports in SysAid Manager Dashboard. Please contact our support and integration team, and our experts at Ilient will be happy to assist you with creating your own reports.
If you have the full SysAid version no. 4.0, you were already given an access to the SysAid manager portal, and one manager license for free. In order to view the Manager Dashboard, you need to create a manager first. To create a manager:
- Go to Preferences>User Management>Admin Management.
- Click on the row entry of the administrator you wish to turn into a manager.
- In the Edit Administrator Properties page, go to the Permissions tab.
- Check the box "Manager: access to Manager Dashboard" and click OK.
- Now, when the new manager you have created logins to SysAid, he/she will immediately enter the Manager Dashboard.
- To allow access to more administrators, you can purchase more manager licenses.

New Features in SysAid version 4.0
Listed below are new features added to SysAid for your comfort and satisfaction.
Encrypted communication during remote control processes
For your absolute safety, the new version of SysAid allows the communication between computers during remote control processes to be encrypted.
A Supervisor feature
According to our customers' request, we have developed a new feature to the End User Portal that allows you to define an end user as either a department or a company supervisor. This end user will be able to see the SR submitted by his/her colleagues in the same department or company. Needless to say, assigning certain end users as supervisors can be a great advantage in increasing the efficiency of your workflow.
Limiting Administrator's access to Tasks and Projects
In the new SysAid version you can limit the access of particular administrators to the entire Tasks/Projects module, or to specific projects and tasks, according to the specific assignments of that administrator or admin group.
Identification of new CPUs and operating systems
SysAid is now able to automatically identify new kinds of CPUs and Operating Systems. For instance, SysAid now recognizes CPUs such as Intel Core Duo, and Operating systems such as Window Vista.
Sending email notifications to particular admin groups about new SRs
It is now possible to send a particular admin group notifications only about new SRs assigned to that group. Hence, administrators will not have to receive email notifications about each change in the SRs statues, in cases when this information is redundant.
A supplier filed can be added to the Asset List
In the new version you can choose to add a column to the Asset list which specifies the supplier of the asset. In addition, a filter to the Asset List according to supplier can be created.
Searching for an asset to attribute to a service request.
SysAid version 4.0 allows administrators to search for any asset they wish to attribute to a particular SR in the assets list, and thus to save precious time.
Submit service request page is dynamic.
Now it is possible to change the fields and design different forms for submitting SRs. The forms will be created according to the different categories of the SRs, and viewed by end users in the End User portal. Please note that programming skills are required for designing the new forms. Feel free to contact Ilient for support. Our expert team will be glad to help you design your forms.
Designing and printing forms in the Tasks and Projects module
This new feature allows you to print all the fields in the Tasks and Projects module in a PDF file, except the Gantt.
Bugs Fixed :
Listed below are the solutions the new version of SysAid offers to bugs that existed in previous versions.
A. Improvements related to Help Desk and Service Requests
Title |
SysAid 4.0 |
SysAid earlier versions |
SR by phone call: adding assets |
Assets can be easily chosen and added to SRs submitted by phone calls. |
After choosing an asset from the list, the SR by phone call page refreshes, but the asset field remains vacant. |
Hitting "Enter" for a new SR in the Admin's interface |
Hitting the "Enter" key has no influence on the submission of SRs. Only clicking either the "OK" or the "Apply" buttons can activate the submission of SRs |
When filling out a new SR in the Admin interface, hitting the "Enter" key instead of clicking the "Apply" button cancels the action and resets the form. |
Automatic choice of location for a new SR |
When a new SR is submitted from the Admin interface, the location is automatically chosen from the Requested User information. |
When a new SR is submitted from the Admin interface, the location is automatically chosen from the Submitting User information. |
Activities times in SRs |
Under the Activities tab in SRs it is possible to insert any time interval, even as short as 1 minute. *See Explanation below. |
Under the Activities tab in SRs the shortest time interval in the drop down menu is 15 minutes. |
Assigning a new SR with special characters. |
A new service request can be properly assigned to any administrator, regardless of the characters in the user name. |
When the administrator's name includes special characters, a new service request is not properly assigned to the administrator. |
End User Portal FAQ |
The End User Portal FAQ page is properly displayed for all languages and characters. |
Languages which include special characters are displayed in the End User Portal FAQ as gibberish. |
Receiving emails with long titles |
Any email message is successfully integrated with SysAid, regardless of the length of its title. |
When an email with a title over 100 characters is received, the integration of this email message with SysAid fails. |
* For instance, if you would like SysAid to calculate a time of only 14 minutes, in the drop-down menu choose the nearest time interval (that is, 15 minutes), yet specify the exact time interval in the "Total" box. You will then notice SysAid has saved the time you have inserted correctly for that activity.
B. Improvements related to Asset management
Title |
SysAid 4.0 |
SysAid earlier versions |
Assets count in the "My Network Assets" page. |
The assets count is correct, regardless of the names of the different assets of your network. |
When names of certain assets begin with the same characters, the computer count in the "My Network Assets" page is incorrect. |
Priority rules |
Any priority rule defined according to assets is successfully activated by SysAid Asset Management tool. |
A priority rule which is defined according to assets in Help Desk>Priority is not activated. |
Filtering according to asset types |
It is possible to filter lists according to the pre-defined types of your network assets |
When a filter according to types of assets is set, the dropdown menu is empty |
Attributing all assets to a single company |
In the new SysAid version, it is possible to attribute all your network assets to a single company. Go to System>Asset List>Action: Set Company |
It is impossible to attribute all the existing assets to a single company. |
Deleting catalog items |
Managing the catalog is possible for all items, regardless of the character types of their names. |
Catalog items which include special characters (such as #, for instance) cannot be deleted from the catalog list. |
Sorting the software list alphabetically |
SysAid allows you to sort your software list according to an alphabetical order. This enables an easier managing of that list, by far. |
The software products are listed according to the order in which the information had been fed to the list. |
Permissions to RC by administrator |
SysAid allows you to limit remote control options not only to certain computers in your network, but also to particular administrators. |
The feature could not be activated properly because the system could not save the configuration. |
C. Improvements related to display
Title |
SysAid 4.0 |
SysAid earlier version |
Display of company Logo |
The company logo, if added to SysAid, is displayed in all of the pages. |
In the logout page, the company logo is not displayed. |
Scroll bars |
All of the pop up windows that allow choosing items from exiting lists include scroll bars. |
Some of the pop up windows which allow choosing items from exiting lists do not include scroll bars. |
Saving preferences of "Allow Submit SR" |
When end users are not allowed to submit SRs by clicking an icon, the icon will never appear on their desktop screen, even after an automated upgrade. |
When the option to allow users to submit SR using an icon on their screen is overruled, an automated upgrade would nevertheless replace the icon on the users' desktops. |
D. Improvements related to SysAid lists
Title |
SysAid 4.0 |
SysAid earlier version |
"Toggle All" and filtering |
The actions you choose to perform on your list will only relate to the items you chose to filter, even if you have chosen to toggle the entire list beforehand.
This new function will prevent, for instance, the possibility to delete all the items of your list by mistake. |
When you choose to toggle all, and then you filter your list, the actions you perform will relate to all the toggled items, not just the filtered ones. This can be particularly problematic when the action chosen is "delete", for instance. |
Searching customized lists |
Searching function in the new version applies to all lists, existing and customized alike. |
Unable to search lists that were added in Preferences>Customize> Lists. |
Custom lists of companies |
Company lists which were added, containing information about companies, appear under the company tab in the User Management page. |
Company lists 1 and 2 (Preferences> Customize>Customize Lists), are not displayed in the company information.

Saving customized web forms |
SysAid saves all web forms, with no need to change the places of newly added fields. |
Customized web forms are not saved, unless the place of the newly added fields is changed. |
Transforming into a PDF file |
Transformation of your lists into a PDF file when designing a new tag is possible for all modules, including all the fields in the Tasks/Projects, except the Gantt. |
In the Task/ Project module, it is impossible to transform all the fields in the lists into a PDF file |
Backslashes and other special characters in Preferences>Customize>Translate |
Translation of SysAid texts and captions can be accomplished, with the use of any chosen character. |
Special characters, such as backslashes, cause mistakes in the translated text. |
